SM Taytay Succesfully Stages Summer Music Festival “Beatstroked”

by - May 15, 2016

SM Taytay Open Parking Area was a sight to behold last May 13 with the unprecedented success of Beatsrtoked which drew tens of  thousand of people.

The FIRST and the BIGGEST Summer Music Festival in the East was staged to attract young and mature musical horde to hear the country’s top nine mainstream bands. SM Taytay was able to bring together Lunar Light, December Avenue, Paraluman, Mojofly,  Jensen and the Flips, Mayonaise, Silent Sanctuary and Parokya ni Edgar for another SM event in celebration of their year-long 30th anniversary.

Festival goers were able to get their event pass by presenting a minimum single or accumulated purchase worth one thousand pesos from tenants of SM City Taytay

I was amazed at the energy and good vibes coming from the crowd as I listened to the bands. The last time I attended a musical band concert was many years ago and there’s only one band but at Beatstroked I listened to not one but three of my favorites in one musical event.

As early as 5PM there was already a long line of people before the gates opened and as the hours passed by, people by groups continues to fill the open parking area.

The night was a revelation. In my experience, those bands on the bottom of the bill were, usually, but not most of the times, ignored but the crowd were so hyped as Lunar Lights and December Avenue formally opened the festival.

Paraluman energized the crowd more when they perform one of Eraserheads iconic song and the crowd sings along.

Mojofly with the energetic lead singer Lougee continues to involve the crowd with some of their “Hugot” songs. While Jensen and The Flips performed some of their best songs.

A big cheer went off when Mayonaise comes on the stage, the crowd went wild when the intro of the song “Laklak” was heard. People were now jumping off their feet in time with the music and stayed that way as Mayonaise finished their set.

Before the two headliners bands perform, the crowd was entertained and even dance to an hour of EDM with DJ Ron Poe, afterwards confetti filled the air to the delight of the festival-goers.

The crowd’s energy reached fever pitch again when Silent Sanctuary goes up on stage and performed songs that the crowd sing along to. They finished the set with an absolutely fantastic drum and guitar instrumentals.

I was in the backstage when it was Parokya ni Edgar’s turn to close the festival. The crowd is getting restless. From where I stand I could see Chito Miranda prepping himself up. He looks larger than life up close and exudes an aura that only a legendary frontman like him can. And when the host announced Parokya ni Edgar the crowd went wild. The audience never saw how Chito Miranda completely transformed when onstage. “Buloy” start off the rest of Parokya’s set.

What a memorable night Beatstroked was with more than four hours of good music.Everybody went home with a happy heart and even continues spreading the good vibes thru social media.

If this is going to be an indication Beatstroked has set the stage for music festival to come.

Congratulations SM City Taytay and I highly commend the very organized concert and the tight securty with minimal or no incidence at all.
